Implementation

We currently offer Apprenticeships, Advanced Apprenticeships and Adult Apprenticeships across all of the Whitbread estate in the UK – Premier Inn, Beefeater, Brewers Fayre, Taybarns, Table Table and Costa Coffee. Our team members/leaders have the opportunity to complete these Apprenticeships in Food and Drink Service, Housekeeping, Front Office, Multi-Skilled Hospitality Service, Food Processing and Cooking, Team Leading, Customer Service and Hospitality Supervision.

It is our General Managers who nominate members of their team to join our programmes and support them throughout their journey.

Whitbread ran the pilot for Adult Apprenticeships and as a result are delighted to be able to offer all our employees to opportunity to develop and grow.

Are plans for the future are ambitious – we are working towards implementing a Skills for Life Programmes to help our people achieve Level 2 in Adult literacy and numeracy. Whitbread also recognise the need to help some of our employees improve their English and intend to offer ESOL at Work. On top of this we are currently working towards a fully mapped and accredited Apprenticeship Programme and bespoke BTEC qualifications for our General Managers. This is direct result of our recent refocus on our Induction Programmes and classroom training solutions.

Impact

Whitbread has always been associated with an excellent record for training people into the hospitality industry, and we were delighted to show our commitment to our people by being one of the first companies to sign the Skills Pledge.

We are already seeing an impact on our business with 98% of our learners who were surveyed saying that they had seen a personal difference in their attitude, responsibility, motivation, confidence and customer care. And 91% of our General Managers who said that the Whitbread Apprenticeship Programme had added value to their business.
